Bought directly from Corney & Barrow, the UK agent for Delamotte. The bottles are stored in bond at London City Bond Eton Park, in ideal conditions at a constant 13°C. For same-day deliveries, small quantities are kept in our office cellar, where the temperature is maintained between 11–13°C. We source all our bottles directly from the Maison or their official UK office, eliminating the risk of poor storage. This is crucial, as champagne quality is highly sensitive to heat: temperatures above 18°C accelerate maturity significantly, which compromises quality.
Founded in 1760 by vineyard owner François Delamotte, Champagne Delamotte is the fifth oldest producer in the region. The House has passed through many generations and even changed name at one point but was re-established as Delamotte in the late 1940s when it came into the hands of the de Nonancourt family. One of the most legendary figures in the Champagne industry, Bernard de Nonancourt managed Delamotte until 1988, when Champagne Laurent-Perrier purchased the business. After also buying the prestigious House of Champagne Salon in 1989, they officially joined the two companies and took over management of both. Next-door neighbours in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Champagne Salon and Champagne Delamotte remain sister companies today. Whilst Salon originates from the same twenty plots in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Delamotte now owns six hectares in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, including in Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger.
The grapes for the Delamotte Blanc de Blancs NV are from only Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs, and that chalky character from the soils is quite evident in the champagne. Always fermented in stainless-steel tanks and at least four years on the lees prior to riddling and disgorgement the champagnes reflect that more steely and linear profile. This long lees time allows the wine time to mellow both structurally and aromatically, creating extremely unique flavours.

Medium to full-bodied, ample and pillowy, with a fleshy core of fruit, bright acids and a pretty pinpoint mousse, it's a seamless, elegant wine that concludes with a flavorful finish.”

“This is a classic racy-mineral Chardonnay from the grand cru villages of the Côte des Blancs: Avize, Cramant, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The reserve wines are kept to a minimum in the blend to enchance the fresh, zingy and mineral style. There is a stylish restraint to the youthful, cool nose, which gives off stony mineral tones, complemented by faint smoky notes. The palate is equally subdued, with impeccable fruit quality shining through in a highly transparent way. Long, linear structure and palate-soothing texture. This is a truly emblematic Côte des Blancs Chardonnay in a cool, reserved but pristinely fruity style. Dosage 7g/l”

“Mostly 2012 with 25% reserve (2010 and 2011). Wonderfully fragrant - smells white and pure but there are delicate notes of yeasty autolysis and scented lemons and white peach. Perfect balance here, finesse and elegance and no lack of flavour intensity and length. Fine and persistent mousse. (JH)”

“Le Mesnil, Avize, Oger, ‘300% grand cru’. Base 2013 plus 30% reserve wines. Disgorged September 2017. Just released. No info on back label. Dosage 6.5–7 g/l. This wine is very successful in Japan apparently. 30–35% of Salon and Delamotte’s business is in Japan. ‘Italy and Japan are very similar markets for high-quality products’. Fine and firm – tight-knit, tiny little bubbles. Fine bead with a tiny bit of softness but still a little chewy on the end.”

“Delamotte’s latest NV Brut Blanc de Blancs is based on the 2019 vintage and complemented by reserve wines from 2018 and 2017. Disgorged in late 2024 with a dosage of seven grams per liter, it emerges from the glass with aromas of lemon confit, candied orange peel and shortbread cookie, mingled with Granny Smith apple. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and concentrated, fleshy and textural, with a rich core of fruit underpinned by ripe yet racy acids and framed by chalky extract. It will strongly benefit from three to five years of post-disgorgement aging. It is sourced from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize and Oger.”
