Founded in 1760 by vineyard owner François Delamotte, Champagne Delamotte is the fifth oldest producer in the region. The House has passed through many generations and even changed name at one point but was re-established as Delamotte in the late 1940s when it came into the hands of the de Nonancourt family. One of the most legendary figures in the Champagne industry, Bernard de Nonancourt managed Delamotte until 1988, when Champagne Laurent-Perrier purchased the business. After also buying the prestigious House of Champagne Salon in 1989, they officially joined the two companies and took over management of both. Next-door neighbours in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Champagne Salon and Champagne Delamotte remain sister companies today. Whilst Salon originates from the same twenty plots in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Delamotte now owns six hectares in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, including in Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger.
Delamotte still produces its rose by the 'saignee' method, a highly-skilled technique employed by a few discerning Champagne houses.

However, in the years when Salon does not declare a vintage, Delamotte has the first claim to the Salon grapes.

“The latest release of Delamotte's NV Brut Rosé is showing beautifully, offering up aromas of tangerine, red plums, cherries and spices. Medium to full-bodied, pillowy and precise, with a fleshy core of fruit, bright acids and a pinpoint mousse, it concludes with a chalky finish. As ever, it's a seamless, elegant wine.”

“Bright salmon colour, with a peachy tinge. Since Laurent-Perrier is the winemaking parent of Delamotte, the maceration method of the house is also employed here. The expressive nose is all about sweet Pinot fruit of Montagne de Reims origin. There are primary strawberry and cherry fruits here but also some curious spicy sous-bois development. The high proportion of Pinot Noir comes across even stronger on the palate, and a touch of tannin brings some grip to the dry finish. An elegant but gastronomic style. Dosage 7g/l”

“The latest release of Delamotte's NV Brut Rosé offers up expressive aromas of red apples, crisp stone fruit, cherries and fresh pastry, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping palate. Comparatively rich and textural for this routinely elegant, fine-boned cuvée, it's more gastronomic than usual.”
