Bought directly from Moët Hennessy, the bottles are stored in bond at London City Bond Eton Park, in ideal conditions at a constant 13°C. For same-day deliveries, small quantities are kept in our office cellar, where the temperature is maintained between 11–13°C. We source all our bottles directly from the Maison or their official UK office, eliminating the risk of poor storage. This is crucial, as champagne quality is highly sensitive to heat: temperatures above 18°C accelerate maturity significantly, which compromises quality.
Dom Pérignon Rosé is only available as a vintage champagne and is only produced in exceptional years. Each vintage is a creation, singular and unique, that expresses both the character of the year, and is a tribute to Pinot Noir. To work with Pinot Noir continually requires excellence and humility and Dom Pérignon Rosé is the perfect balance of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Although it takes over ten years to reach the light of day, the colour of Dom Pérignon Rosé dares to express all the tension between youth and maturity, between exhibition and restraint.
Weather: The 2009 vintage was a difficult year at first with a mild and rainy spring. The threat of mildew was high and storms in July further raised fears for the health of the grapes. However, a warm August of uninterrupted hot and dry weather was the catalyst for an idyllic harvest. Picking began on the 12th September in perfect conditions.

Tasting Note: Powerful cherry fruit on the nose that highlights black rather than red berry profile. Alongside berries, apricot jam, blood orange and stone fruit tones arise on top of the deep, softly spicy core. The palate is full of fruit too with both a vertical and horizontal sumptuousness. Soft but fresh acidity intermingles with the sturdy phenolics of the wine, bringing structure. A big, bold and immediately expressive Dom Pérignon has a lot of character to it. Uniquely only available as a vintage champagne produced in exceptional years from just two grape varieties, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Dom Pérignon is an iconic wine with an unrivalled heritage. Often considered one of the founding fathers of Champagne itself, the Benedictine Monk Dom Pierre Pérignon spent forty-seven years working between 1668 and 1715 in the historic Abbey of Hautvillers pursuing his ambition to create the "best wine in the world".
Each vintage is a creation, singular and unique, that expresses both the character of the year, and the character of Dom Pérignon. After at least eight years of lees ageing in the cellars, the wine enters its first phase of interest, Plenitude 1, showing quite youthful fruit and broad texture from the lees contact. The signature Dom Pérignon aromatic is that "hint smoky" character a result of the reductive winemaking where they go to extreme lengths to keep each step of the winemaking process free of oxygen. With every sip of Dom Perignon you always have that purity of fruit character, depending on the vintage you normally see the Pinot Noir fruit dominate, which are those red fruits like raspberry, peach and dark cherry. The Chardonnay adds a supporting layer of chalky texture and delicious fruit in the yellow spectrum like plum, apple and tropical notes of pineapple.
Based on Grand Cru villages plus one premier cru villages of Hautvillers, a wine of tension, power and long-ageing endurance and has been the vision of talented Chef de Cave, Vincent Chaperon, for over two and a half decades.
Vincent Chaperon 2019 to current | Joined Moët & Chandon in 1999 then in 2005 he joined Dom Pérignon as head of red winemaking for Dom Pérignon Rosé. The 2009 Dom Pérignon Rosé saw a reduction in the still Pinot Noir content to about 10%, down from previous levels that reached up to 28% in earlier vintages like 2004 and 2005. This adjustment aimed to create a Rosé with greater finesse and a more harmonious profile, aligning with Chaperon's vision for the wine. His meeting with Richard Geoffroy proved decisive, the beginning of a thirteen-year apprenticeship during which the two engaged in an ongoing dialogue with one another. The handover took place on January 1, 2019 when Vincent Chaperon became Chef de Cave of Dom Pérignon.
Richard Geoffroy 1990 - 2018 | Joined the Moët & Chandon winemaking team in 1985, working with Dominique Foulon, chef de cave across both Moët and Dom Pérignon Champagnes at the time. Geoffroy's talents were quickly recognized; in 1990, he was named chef de cave of Dom Pérignon, mentored by Foulon until Foulon's retirement in 2000. Geoffroy was known for his 15 vintages of Dom Pérignon.
Dominique Foulon 1975 - 1990 | Under Foulon's guidance, Dom Pérignon produced several acclaimed vintages, including the 1975, which has been recognized for its quality and longevity. Foulon was known for his adherence to traditional Champagne-making techniques and his focus on creating wines with balance and aging potential. His approach laid the groundwork for the innovations that Geoffroy and subsequent Chefs de Cave would introduce. He played a crucial role in mentoring Richard Geoffroy.

“The 2009 Dom Pérignon Rosé marks a return to a richer style of Rosé following the more ethereal 2008 Rosé. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, spice and pomegranate all build in a creamy, sensual DP Rosé that hits all the right spots. Over the last few years, Chef de Caves Vincent Chaperon and his team have lowered the still Pinot portion of the Rosé down to about 10% from a high of 28% or so, reached around 2004 and 2005. In 2009, the Rosé gains considerable textural presence from the generosity of the year. It is a superb Champagne. I preferred it to the 2008, which was also part of this tasting.”

“In comparison to the charming, pure 2008 Dom Pérignon Rosé, the 2009 Dom Pérignon Rosé possesses a ripe, dense bouquet with aromas of dark berries, licorice, dried white flowers, toast and pastry, enhanced by delicate, racy smoky hints. Full-bodied, broad and rich, it’s dense and phenolic due to the approximately 15% still red wine sourced from grapes planted in the villages of Hautvilliers, Aÿ and Bouzy, culminating in a protracted, sapid and chalky finish. Although already thoroughly enjoyable, it should age well over the next 10 years. This blend of 56% Pinot Noir and 44% Chardonnay was disgorged in March 2022 with a dosage of five grams per liter.”

“59% Pinot Noir (13% of which as red wine), 41% Chardonnay. Aged 12 years on lees. Dosage 5 g/l. More orange than pink. Honey, caramel, wild raspberry which still has a fresh-picked tanginess to it. On the nose, the yeastiness is surprisingly subdued, but the palate comes through with bakery and brioche, especially on the long, toasty finish.”

“The wine’s deep hue reveals the strong red-wine spirit at the heart of this Champagne. Since my tasting for this report a year ago, the wine has gained in savoury complexity, with its untamed Pinot Noir character now even more boldly expressed. The aromatic profile leans into the dried-fruit spectrum of apricot and mango, layered with dark berry nuances and a thread of refined char. On the palate, it glides in with silkiness before the warm-year phenolics rise with poised grip toward the back. While the bouquet shows a captivating sense of evolution, there is still a powerful structural core beneath, promising long-term cellaring potential. Dosage:5g/l.”

“Dom Pérignon Rosé 2009 arrives almost four years after the standard release, accordingly mature, expressive and open. Roughly equal proportions of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but with a still red wine addition normally in the region of 15%. It’s a huge contrast from the 2008, showing the warmth of the year with approachable, fleshy apricot and blood orange flavours, rounded and saturated with ripe fruit at its heart but beautifully detailed with hibiscus, liquorice and dried red berry fragrance. While structured, it is less firm and vinous than the comparably warm 2006; a supple, fluid and sweet kind of ripeness with a gently persistent citric length. While it will develop with interest in the medium term, this is a Dom Pérignon Rosé that can be enjoyed close to its release.”

“The 2009 Dom Perignon Rose, disgorged in 2022 with a dosage of five grams per liter, continues to show nicely, unfurling in the glass with aromas of orange oil, raspberry, pomegranate and Timut pepper, mingled with notes of dried flowers and apricot. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied and openly muscular—expansive and textural—built around a sweet core of fruit, its phenolic presence and vinous character informed by the inclusion of 13% still red wine. Its pinpoint mousse and ripe yet vibrant acidity lend energy, carrying the wine to a perfumed, resonant finish. While it appears to be marginally more harmonious and a longer-distance runner than the 2010 rendition, it currently shows considerably less depth than the white Dom Pérignon Plenitude 2 from the 2006 vintage that preceded it in the tasting, leading me to place my confidence in the latter.”
The newly released Dom Pérignon 2018 is the first of what promises to be a fascinating trilogy of great, solar-driven vintages – 2018, 2019 and 2020 – and importantly, it is Vincent Chaperon’s first creation as Cellar Master.
Dom Pérignon 2017 looks set for an intriguing evolution and is unlikely to remain on the market for long as attention turns to the 2018 release. Some great scores from wine writers.
