Champagne Dom Perignon Overview
+
Including three now extremely rare vintages 1990, 1995 and 1996, this case allows you to taste some of the best vintages from the 1990’s. An exclusive limited edition case only available from The Finest Bubble.

1990 – Produced from the third largest crop on record, the vintage is astonishing. A intensely hot summer with little rain. Initially floral impressions give way to aromas of honey and brioche. On the palate, the wine is intense and complex, leading to a long finish.

1995 – The vintage was marked by an exceptional summer. Spring was dull but rapid flowering at the end of June due to a heatwave created a markedly good vintage. The palate is full of fresh almonds and apricots and the tension is present throughout until and long fruity finish.

1996 – An intensely fruity and creamy champagne that is from an incredible harvest. The harvest is famous for high sugar and acidity. This complex champagne is a delight, with a great depth of fruit and citrus notes.

“1995 - Very green. Real autolysis character – very Dom P, very flattering! Surprisingly sweet on the palate though which jars a bit. Or is this just the richness of the vintage? Certainly this is the easiest wine to drink so far in the tasting… Very persistent mousse. Lots of interesting components all in balance. Quite long.”

“1990 - Expressive, smoky and somehow even reductive - even at this age! So characterful. Bready, rich, savoury and salty - has a bit of umami / soy character - distinctive and substantial. (RH)”

“1996 - 50% Pinot Noir, 50% Chardonnay.
Pale straw. Surprisingly light nose. Then a lovely, sprightly, highly developed, reasonably rich palate. This tastes so much older than it smells! There’s even a little bit of very slightly decayed fruit on the end. Creamy texture and very satisfying on the palate but a little bit disappointing on the nose. Definitely ready to enjoy.”
