Special Edition Five Non-Vintage Champagne offer!

We are delighted to announce we have again arranged for Essi Avellan to host our third live Instagram tasting on Friday 10th April at 18:30 UK time 20:30 Finnish Time. Hosted by Essi in Helsinki and Nick in London. (Nick Baker Founder TheFinestBubble.com - Essi Avellan MW World’s Leading Champagne Expert)

This week we are exploring how Vintage champagne can be really good value. Essi will guide us through this with five champagnes showing how the diversity in the champagne making process effects what we taste in the glass.

Hopefully you can join us and taste along with us, with at least one of these or ideally at least two, one reductive style like Moet and Bollinger where they embrace oxygen with barrel fermentation. We have a super offer on the website when you buy all five champagnes.

We broadcast live at Instagram.com/thefinestbubble - when we are live on Instagram the TFB logo on the top left of our Instagram home page glows orange, then click on that logo and you enter the live stream with Essi and Nick.

Vintage Champagnes are made using wine from a single year, or vintage. Not all growing years are declared vintages and not all houses make the same vintage. Aged for a minimum of 3 years prior to release - although this is realistically somewhere between 4 and 10 years - different vintages have significantly different characteristics and are accordingly sought after.

Laurent-Perrier 2008: A light golden appearance with a delicate fine stream of bubbles, initial notes on the nose are floral and hints citrus. A well balanced but direct palate has all the offerings of white fruits and fresh oranges.

Moet & Chandon Grand Vintage 2012: Hints of white flowers and sweet pastry. A supple and soft-textured champagne, its initial sweetness gives way to a more structured acidity. A persistent finish reveals zesty notes of pink grapefruit and peaches.

Piper-Heidsieck 2012: Fresh citrus notes of lime and tangerine leaves combine with warm smoked notes on the nose. The palate has almonds, smoked tea and freshly harvested honey the juice of ripe black cherry and blueberries. The finish is long and silky.

Taittinger Brut Vintage 2012: Pale radiant yellow with an abundance of fine bubbles rising to form a delicate persistent necklace. The first impression on the nose combines flintiness with yeasty bread aromas. This quickly gives way to a fine, intense, sweet fruitiness, of crystallized fruit scents of lemon and mandarin with a flowery touch of acacia honey. On the palate, the fruity attack is sublimely fresh and rich. The mid-palate is balanced, structured and smooth, releasing flavours of sugared pink grapefruit. The exceptional intensity of the finish is long, generous and complex.

Veuve Clicquot Vintage 2012: Displaying bright yellow colour with refinded golden hints. The nose is fresh, delicate and saline. Juicy, candied apricots set the tone with grilled toasted notes, evolving into complex aromas of figs, dried fruits, honey, truffle and mocha. A fresh and frank palate with more fruit, candied citrus and roasted pear notes. A great liveliness throughout right through to the lasting finish.
