Description & Technical Information
-
In recognition of the subtle differences between each annual non-vintage creation, Champagne Jacquesson number their non-vintage cuvée every year. Jacquesson Cuvée 743 is based on the 2015 harvest with grapes originating from Ay, Dizy, Hautvillers, Avize and Oiry. The Pinot Noir from Ay and Dizy and the Chardonnays from Avize were particularly successful in 2015. Picking started at Jacquesson on 10th September and ended on the last day of the month. The dominant harvest of 2015 is complemented by the addition of 20% reserve wines from the previous two years. The champagne was vinified on the lees in oak barrels with no filtration or fining. 215,330 bottles, 10,013 magnums and 302 jeroboams were produced.

Weather: A wet winter and mild spring gave way to an exceptionally dry summer from mid-May onwards. Hot weather prevailed until mid-August, when the skies opened again. Rains gave way to fine, cool, yet sunny weather for the first two weeks of harvest, which commenced on August 29th. The 2015 vintage has a lot of common denominators with the 2003 vintage but the 2015's are showing a better balance of weight and freshness with their average potential alcohol level of 10.5% and total acidity of 6.9 g. An average vintage where a few will excel.

Technical Information:
Vineyards: 100% Grand & Premier Cru | Chardonnay: Avize & Oiry | Pinot Noir: Ay, Hautvillers & Dizy

“The NV Extra-Brut Cuvée No. 743 (2015 base) is soft,
open-knit and caressing. The natural radiance of 2015
comes through in the wine's ample, creamy feel. Apricot,
spice, dried flowers, hazelnut and lightly honeyed notes
are all beautifully laced together. The 743 is already a
touch forward, in a good way, which makes it a terrific
choice for drinking now and over the next handful of
years. The blend is 60% Pinot Noir (from Aÿ, Dizy and
Hautvillers) and 40% Chardonnay (from Avize and
Oiry). Disgorged: August 2019 and bottled with no
dosage. ”

“Aged in wood, this is the latest iteration of the producer’s non-vintage cuvée based on the 2015 vintage It is impressive in its white-fruit richness that is perfectly balanced by intense acidity. Bottle ageing has added to the Champagne’s complexity. This is a fine wine that is ready to drink.”

William Kelley
“Based on the 2015 vintage and disgorged in August 2019 without dosage, the Chiquet brothers' NV Extra-Brut Cuvée No. 743 is showing nicely, offering up inviting aromas of freshly baked bread, crisp yellow orchard fruit, beeswax and dried white flowers. Medium to full-bodied, pillowy and precise, it's elegantly fleshy, with an enveloping core of fruit, a pinpoint mousse and a nicely defined, saline finish.”
