Like Grande Cuvée, Krug Rosé is a multi-vintage blend. A relative newcomer first released in the 1980s, Krug Rosé NV is a ground-breaking champagne: the only prestige cuvée rosé to be blended from all three different grape varieties and from such a wide range of vintages. Pinot Noir grapes from the best hillside plots in Aÿ are fermented with their skins on for a few days. This fermentation extracts coloraturas and texture from the tennis and the red wine produced from this is then added to the rest of the blend and bottled in the spring following the harvest. Krug Rose is aged on the lees for at least six years, often nearer to ten. The texture of Krug Rose is unlike most other Rose Champagnes since it is fuller and more texturally pleasing due to the relatively high percentage of red wine used in the blend, this gives a greater colour and spice characteristic.
Krug Rose 25 Eme Edition is a blend of 28 wines from 5 different years, the youngest of which is from 2013 while the oldest dates back to 2008. Its final composition is 45% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 25% Meunier. It was completed with 11 traditionally macerated Pinot Noir of the year from La Cote Valnon a special plot in Aÿ to add vivacity spiciness, colour and structure.

Weather:Krug Rosé 25th Edition was created from the 2013 harvest, a year that was characterised by a particularly late growing cycle. The never-ending winter was followed by a very cool, late spring. we had to wait until the start of July for flowering to begin – something we hadn’t seen in Champagne for quite some time! Fortunately, summer was glorious with plenty of sunshine, record temperatures and very low rainfall, ideal for the ripening of the Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. the temperatures were cool for the October harvest and the resulting wines are elegant and fresh – the signs of a “classic” vintage.

Tasting Note: The resting time of at least seven years in Krug's cellars gives this rosé its subtle bubbles and long-lasting elegance. A subtle pale pink colour with a nose full of aromas of rose hips, cured ham, mulberries, redcurrant, pepper and pink grapefruit. On the palate, delicate flavours of honey, citrus and dried fruit with a long finish. Krug Rosé is a remarkable Champagne which encapsulates the same creative spirit of Krug Grande Cuvée, again surpassing the very notion of vintage. One of the very best.
