Like Grande Cuvée, Krug Rosé is a multi-vintage blend. A relative newcomer first released in the 1980s, Krug Rosé NV is a ground-breaking champagne: the only prestige cuvée rosé to be blended from all three different grape varieties and from such a wide range of vintages. Pinot Noir grapes from the best hillside plots in Aÿ are fermented with their skins on for a few days. This fermentation extracts coloraturas and texture from the tennis and the red wine produced from this is then added to the rest of the blend and bottled in the spring following the harvest. Krug Rose is aged on the lees for at least six years, often nearer to ten. The texture of Krug Rose is unlike most other Rose Champagnes since it is fuller and more texturally pleasing due to the relatively high percentage of red wine used in the blend, this gives a greater colour and spice characteristic.
Krug Rose 26 Eme Edition is a blend of 28 wines from 7 different years, the youngest of which is from 2014 while the oldest dates back to 2005. Its final composition is 44% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 26% Meunier. It was completed with 11 traditionally macerated Pinot Noir of the year from La Cote Valnon a special plot in Aÿ to add vivacity spiciness, colour and structure. In all, reserve wines from the House’s extensive library made up 33 of the final blend of this Édition of Krug Rosé.

Tasting Note: Aromas of tart red berries and plums mingled with notions of warm biscuits, dried fruits, flowers and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, taut and incisive, with terrific concentration, racy acids and a long, penetrating finish, it's an intensely flavored, electric wine. - Tasted by William Kelley
