To mark its 250th anniversary, Champagne Lanson created a range of cuvées, Extra Age. The range was created by chief winemaker Jean-Paul Gandon to celebrate the history of the house. Extra Age Blanc de Blancs is a blend of 100% Chardonnay grapes from Premier and Grand Cru vineyards Avize, Cramant, Oiry, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and is a blend from the 2004, 2005 and 2006 vintages.

Tasting Note: A light golden colour with a fine stream of bubbles. On the nose a bouquet of citrus and white flowers lead to a palate full of rich fruits, pears and lemons. The mid-palate has a balanced mineral freshness and opens until the finish. A stunning representative of the Extra Age range.

“With this wine my notes have varied significantly and one factor, no doubt, is its clear glass bottle allowing light taint to spoil it easily. Now, after having been on the markets for a few years already, the inaugural cuvée (05, 04, 03) is starting to show evolution and a mellow side of itself. Its nose is rather advanced with vanilla, baked apple and nutty notes but the palate is still very fresh and tight bringing contrast to it. This one has two ripe vintages in it, which comes across strongly but the 2004 brings a welcome addition of freshness. ”
