Description & Technical Information
-
The House of Lanson is one of a select few to possess a truly impressive collection of fine vintage champagnes. Each coveted bottle has been carefully crafted by the longstanding Chef des Caves whose passion and devotion complements the classical blending techniques of preceding generations. The marriage of the finest selection of grapes from a single year, each champagne in the Lanson Vintage Collection is the epitome of true craftsmanship and reflects the House’s perpetual quest for excellence. A small number of bottles that date back to 1976 are proposed to a restricted circle of connoisseurs each year.

Weather: 1979 began with a very cold and piercing winter, frosts were present at the beginning of May following a very mild winter. As a result the grapes growth was subdued but initial flowering was good. The weather in June and July vastly improved with nice sunshine and gentle heats creating excellent conditions for ripening.

“Disgorged 2015.
Deep gold. Smells of Peking duck! Very rich and broad on the palate. Vibrant and a little richer than refreshing but admirable lasting quality. Though it does fall apart a bit in the glass.”

“Glorious, remarkably fruity nose with Coteaux du Layon reminicent botrytised tones of dried apricots, honey, orange marmalade and wool. Really sweetly fruity on both nosr and palate. Superb viscosity and generosity on the concentrated palate, stylishly lined with perky acidity. Seems ageless. ”
