Laurent-Perrier choose to make vintages very rarely, only selecting the very best years. This makes their Brut Millésimé a rare and outstanding champagne that clearly expresses the specific character of each vintage in the Laurent-Perrier style. It is bottled and aged in Laurent-Perrier's cellars for almost eight years before being disgorged prior to release.

Weather: The 2006 vintage was a year of mixed weather. It began with a rainy spell and late spring, but with little or no frost in the vineyards. Early summer was positive, with the months of June and July creating perfect conditions for flowering. Although there were some storms in late-July, the overall health of the vines was great since the weather remained hot through to the harvest with spells of rain in August promoting even healthier grapes.

Drink: Now to 2025

Tasting Note: A light yellow appearance and a subtle nose of fresh pineapple and dried apricots. The palate is very balanced with hints of white peach flavour peeking through. Well-roundedness is the real making of the 2006 vintage and it is what makes this a great champagne.

“50:50 Chardonnay:Pinot Noir. Low-acid year, especially for Chardonnay. Disgorged February 2017. Dosage 8 g/l too (just like the 2007 tasted immediately before).
Quite deep yellow. Broad and lightly nutty on the nose. Again, the compressed, tight-knit style of Laurent-Perrier but much more obviously sweet and almost lemon-cream/syllabub notes. Friendly and accessible. Easy-peasy. Light to medium weight. Almost crème pâtissière. A certain softness.

“This newcomer in magnum is still in its infancy, even dormant to a certain degree. Behind a cool façade there is rich, opulent fruitiness and plenty of muscle to build upon. Stylish, pastry and vanilla-lined, deep and layered nose. Wide, fleshy, round palate, well in balance. Velvet-textured and long, appears built to last.”

“The 2006 Millésime Brut reflects the vintage as well as the house style of Laurent-Perrier. It blends the vivacious freshness and white fruit flavors of Chardonnay with the full ripeness of Pinot Noir (50/50). Citrus-yellow in color and with a fine perlage, the 2006 opens with intense and fresh citrus aromas intermixed with white fruit, apricot, brioche and nougat flavors. Mouth-filling, round and fresh on the palate, this vintage reveals a stunning finesse and salinity in the lean and elegant, persistent and refreshing finish. This is a very well-defined and stimulatingly fresh and mineral vintage Champagne with a silky texture. A remarkably good 2006.”
