Champagne Le Mesnil is a prestigious, grower-led cooperative house founded in 1937, situated in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. Located 20 km south of Epernay in the Côte des Blancs, the vineyards are situated on chalk slopes with eastern exposure, providing excellent drainage and allowing the Chardonnay grapes to achieve their full potential. All grapes are sourced from the Grand Cru rated village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, one of only 17 villages in the entire Champagne region classified as Grand Cru. Each wine is meticulously aged for a minimum of three years in the estate’s own cellars, resulting in expressions of remarkable freshness, elegance, and refinement that reflect the extraordinary terroir of Le Mesnil.
Weather: The 2020 Champagne vintage is noted as the third consecutive high-quality, warm harvest, with a promising but challenging season characterized by early budbreak, a warm August, and shortened ripening periods that resulted in heterogeneity among the wines. Despite challenges like vine heat stress and labour issues due to the pandemic, the still base wines (vins clairs) showed potential for powerful, rich, and expressive wines with good balance.

“A fine, focused Blanc de Blancs. The Chardonnay really drives everything here – fresh, structured, mineral, precise. Always seems to deliver consistent (high) quality at a very fair price.”
