Description & Technical Information
-
Palmer collection champagnes are made from the grapes of a single exceptional year. It is one of the most prestigious collection of vintage champagnes, all of which are safeguarded in our 18-meter-deep chalk cellars. Each Collection is unique and possesses the distinctive, imitable qualities of that year’s outstanding grapes. These wines are elevated to their fullest expression through the knowhow, the experience of Palmer & Co and of course throught the time factor, so closely connected to the inimitabe Palmer style. Palmer Blanc de Blancs is created from Chardonnay grapes sources mainly from the magnificent terroirs of Villers-Marmery and Trépail. The fruits from these two terriors are blended with Chardonnay from Côte de Sézanne. The cuvées have been selected by cellar master Xavier Berdin and the four oenologists of the House for their superior quality and ageing potential. Started in 1947 when Palmer was established, the collections also include some of the best vintages of the last 40 years: 1999, 1996, 1987, 1985, 1979 or 1976...

The bottles, magnums, and larger formats, are stored upside down in our cellars for twenty years or more. The very long ageing process gives an intense and complex character to these great wines while at the same time ensuring that they remain remarkably fresh to the palate

Weather: The 1995 harvest was a large crop and shared similar characteristics with the renowned 1998. Following four consecutive years of tough growing conditions, 1995 came as a huge relief to the region - the first universally declared vintage since 1990. The summer was mainly hot, with some showers a few weeks before the harvest. Now, over twenty years since bottling, champagne from 1995 are starting to show flavours of incredibly complex, rich and concentrated fruits.
