Champagne Pommery's prestige cuvée was first produced in 1979. Named after her daughter and a tribute to Madame Pommery's personality and vision, Cuvée Louise is a champagne with a very low sugar content, reflecting the origins of Brut Nature 1874. Containing wine from three Grand Cru plots: Avize and Cramant for the Chardonnay and Aÿ for the Pinot Noir, Cuvée Louise is aged on the lees for a minimum of eight years. The aim is to strike the perfect balance between the vintage and Pommery's unique tyle.
Created as a tribute to Louise Pommery, Cuvée Louise is an absolutely pure wine which quintessentially conveys the wine-making expertise of the Pommery champagne house. Avize, Cramant et Aÿ. Cuvée Louise originates in the vineyards of Avize, Cramant and Ay, three “Grands Crus” areas that are jewels in the crown of the Champagne region.
Weather: The 2003 vintage was one of pre-eminence: a year like no other, defined by extremes. The vineyard was first touched by severe spring frosts that left a lasting mark on the Champagne region before being struck with an unparalleled heatwave. As a result, the crop was perfectly ripe and healthy but left a particularly small harvest: this was the most precocious since 1822.

Tasting Note: Fragrant vanilla, white-flower, and lemon nose, with impressive toasty layers. Lovely, crisp, tropical fruitiness, with melon and guava notes. It sits beautifully on the reductive side. Mellow, fluffy mousse on the creamy-smooth palate. Round and fruit-forward, with fine fruit intensity for further keeping. There is a refreshing phenolic bite on the back palate. Impressively slow-aging for the vintage. - Tasted by Essi Avellan MW
