Although not the oldest wine estate in the region, Ruinart holds the title of the oldest established Champagne House. Nicolas Ruinart founded Champagne Ruinart in 1729.

Famed for their affinity for the white-grape variety, Chardonnay dominates the blend in all of Ruinart's finest cuvées, even their prestige rosé. Favouring the reductive style, they use a pneumatic press to guard the juice against oxidation and deploy nitrogen gas to protect the wine at every production stage. They are also adverse to oak and vinify all of their wines in stainless-steel tanks. Ruinart's Crayeres were dug by hand - the deepest measuring 38 meters in height beneath the vault - and their numerous tunnels criss-cross over a length of more than eight kilometres.

In 2020, Ruinart breaks with the tradition of individual gift boxes, and pushes its global, environmental approach further with the second skin case. Entirely recyclable cloak composed of 100% natural wood fibres.

This eco-designed casing perfectly marries the emblematic silhouette of the Maison's signature bottle with Ruinart's taste integrity, which is preserved until tasting.

Ruinart Blanc de Blancs NV is made primarily from grapes sourced in the Premier Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. This approachable, pure and creamy non-vintage contains 20-25% reserve wines from the previous two years.

*Champagne in clear bottles must be stored in complete darkness and not exposed to any form of light, the bottles are best served still in their "cloak."

Tasting Note: A pale yellow golden hue with slight luminous qualities. On the nose, fresh ripe fruits are ever present leading to a floral palate combined with peaches and hints of pineapple. This well-rounded and elegant champagne leaves hints of citrus fruits through to the long-lasting finish.
Although not the oldest wine estate in the region, Ruinart holds the title of the oldest established Champagne House. Dom Thierry Ruinart, friend and confidant of Benedictine monk Dom Pérignon, foretold that the new "wine with bubbles" being developed in his native region of Champagne was destined for a bright future and encouraged his nephew Nicolas Ruinart to enter the trade. When Louis XV declared that champagne could henceforth be sold in bottles instead of barrels, Nicolas heeded his uncle's advice and founded Champagne Ruinart in 1729.

Cosmopolitan and savvy, Ruinart produce approachable, muscular and vinous champagnes that deserve recognition beyond the trade industry within which they are currently most well-known.

The longest-established Champagne house of all, Ruinart has an affinity with chardonnay's freshness, finesse and elegance and all of its finest cuvées lead with this variety, even its prestige rosé. ""We hate oxygen!"" declares Frederic Panaïotis, Chef de Cave; Ruinart use a pneumatic press to guard the juice against oxidation and nitrogen gas to protect the wine at every production stage. They are also adverse to oak; vinification only takes place in stainless steel. This meticulous attention to detail along with the distinctive rounded bottles, give Ruinart its well-deserved reputation. Ruinart's Crayeres were dug by hand - the deepest measuring 38 meters in height beneath the vault - and their numerous tunnels criss-cross over a length of more than eight kilometres.

Chef de Cave History at Champagne Ruinart:

Frédéric Panaïotis - 2007 to current | He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of champagne production, from grape selection to the final blend. Panaïotis is known for his work on the 2010 vintage, which was the first time Ruinart aged its prestige cuvée entirely under cork rather than a crown cap. He also played a key role in the development of Ruinart's rosé champagne and has a deep appreciation for the Japanese market.

Jean-François Barot - 1985 to 2003 | He was at the helm during the development of some key vintages, including the 1998 and 2002.

Bertrand Mure - 1947 - 1967 | He was the cellarmaster who created the first Dom Ruinart in 1959.

William Kelley
“Based on the 2019 vintage and disgorged in 2022, Ruinart's newly released NV Blanc de Blancs bursts with characteristically reductive aromas of yellow orchard fruit, citrus oil, iodine and toasted bread. Medium-bodied, pillowy and fleshy, with lively acids and a saline finish, it is an attractive Champagne that incorporates 20% reserve wines.”

“Pale lemon colour. Youthful, gunpowdery mineral nose with straw, floral and lemon notes. Tart, linear, driven palate. Super lean and fresh with a succulent, fruity finish. Can be closed and muted at first but opens up to a beautiful, soft, toasty richness. The 2010 based cuvée is exceptionally good and shows remarkably in magnums. The 2011 was notably lesser whereas the 2012 based ones are opulent and caressing with generous tropical fruit. Beware of storage conditions as the clear glass allows the light to spoil it quickly.”

“The secret to the supple deliciousness of this blanc de blancs lies in its broad blend, with Chardonnays from the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims paired with softly fruity Vesle Valley and Sézannais grapes. Pale, greenish-yellow colour. The youthful nose is still very much on the primary fruit, with fine lemon and lime notes mixing with white flowers and green apple. Not much of Ruinart's hallmark smoky, toasty aromas surfacing yet. The palate is super-fresh, but there is fruity suppleness to it, too. Lean, long and finishing on a pure fruity note. This one feels like it needs more time.”

“The latest rendition of Ruinart's NV Blanc de Blancs unwinds in the glass with scents of citrus zest, green apple, white flowers and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, pillowy and incisive, with a vibrant core of fruit and brisk acids, complemented by a mouth-filling mousse, it concludes with a saline finish.”

Peter Moser
“Light greenish yellow, silver reflections; lively mousse. Floral nose, fine white peach fruit and fresh apple, mineral freshness, a hint of biscuit. Fine, silky palate is carried by a lively acidity, vinous texture, lemony aftertaste; an animating food wine with good ageing potential.”
