Description & Technical Information
-
Gusbourne Brut Reserve is solely based on 2015 vintage. The vineyards are boosted by the small microclimate Gusbourne experiences due to the proximity to the English Channel. South facing coastal escarpment allows the vines to bask in glorious English sunshine. It is the second driest place in England, receiving as little as 7mm of rain per week during the growing season.

Weather:An early April bud burst led to a good start to the season. This was followed by good weather throughout June, resulting in a successful flowering period. Cooler weather during August meant a later than average veraison, but this enabled the grapes to retain acidity whilst still developing full flavour potential. Havest commenced in early October with an extremely clean crop.

Technical Information:
Grape Varieties: 53% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, 7% Pinot Meunier
Ageing: 3 years on the lees
Dosage: 8 g/l
Drink: Now to 2022

Tasting Note: Bright golden in colour and with aromas of green apple, ripe pear and candied citrus. The palate is fruit driven, with zesty mandarin, peach and apple pie. Hints of ginger and mineral notes combine with toasted nuts and brioche.

“Very fine bead. Quite fruity and accessible already but with a dry finish. This would certainly make a good party wine – not too complicated and not too tart or dry.”
