Description & Technical Information
-
Ridgeview established their home in 1995 in rural Sussex on the edge of the beautiful South Downs. Since then, the family business has been making wines focused on exceptional quality from vine to glass. They were one of the first wineries in England to focus solely on the production of sparkling wines from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grape varieties. With meticulous attention to detail and expertise in cool climate viticulture, they are producing fruit of excellent ripeness and wonderful natural acidity – perfect for sparkling wine.

Winemaking: Handpicked followed by whole bunch pressing conducted with respect to the must separation as stipulated by CIVC permitted limits. Alcoholic fermentation with yeast prepared by Institute Œnologique de Champagne.

Weather in 2009: Budburst occurred early April in the Chardonnay. The flowering period was very short, and temperatures were consistently in the high twenties. The expectation nationally was that an early harvest would be the result but unsettled weather for late July and early August meant that berry development was normal. Excellent weather during September and October gave a good period of ripening and we saw excellent sugar accumulation.
