Description & Technical Information
-
Juice obtained from the three grape varieties used in the Wiston Estate Rosé blend was fermented separately in a mixture of old Burgundy oak barrels with specially selected yeasts. The wines were then rested on their lees for several months until spring. Due to the nature of the harvest, the decision was then taken to block malolactic fermentation. Exquisitely beautiful, soft and fine: this is quite possibly the best English sparkling wine ever made.

Weather: 2014 in England was hailed as exquisite, with a large crop with great fruits. A mild winter combined with a long warm spring and summer with little rain and threat of disease. Producing quality and quantity the harvest was good, with September remaining warm. The producers that picked early in September had the best conditions, whilst those leaving late experienced some more difficulties as the weather changed.

Technical Information:
Grape Varieties: 68% Pinot Noir, 10% Chardonnay, 22% Pinot Meunier
Ageing: 2 years on the lees
Disgorged: 2017
Dosage: 8 g/l
Drink: Now to 2022

Tasting Note: A fruit forward wine, with exotic and spicy characteristics. This light pink sparkling wine has great texture and mouthfeel with bright acidity. A long finish with elegance and finesse.

Wiston Estate Rosé 2014 is presented in an individual branded gift box (as shown in the picture on the left).

Jancis Robinson MW
“Tasted blind. Hint of blue. Pale strawberry colour. Strange, rather cinnamon-like aroma. A bit wild and with a hint of fraise des bois. Lots of interest but definitely non-classic. A bit green. Cuts off a bit suddenly. English?
Drink 2019-2022”

“A wine clearly at ease with itself, displaying beautiful balance and a vinous nose, delicate and understated. The finish is surprisingly long, longer than the mid-palate suggests, displaying gentle fruit, elegance and finesse”

“Evocative redcurrant notes play on the nose. They become more intense on the palate where lively fizz lets them mix with lemon and pink grapefruit zestiness. This wine is lively and fresh but the exuberant surface is supported by a firm and taut structure of subtle autolysis that provides the perfect backdrop for all the tart, refreshing berry fruit. It offers freshness, joy and verve in one tidy, neat package. Lovely now, it will develop”
