Essi Avellan MW
“(Tasted in magnum) Bottles of Cuvée William Deutz are exquisite enough, but the magnums come with the additional charm of an amazingly creamy texture and refreshing zinginess. Polished pristine fruitiness on the nose. Plentiful and driven at the same time, with fine smoky complexity framing the whole. The finish is dry and pure, ending on a cool, saline note. ”

“Cuvée William Deutz carries the 2008 vintage’s signature of elegance and vivacity. It seems to be so slowly ageing with its youthful, crunchy red apple fruitiness that comes with refreshing sweet lemon, baked pear and vanilla notes. There is lightness and drive to the lacy and fruit-packed palate. A smart and age-worthy vintage of Cuvée William Deutz.”

“If there were such a thing as salty red apple flesh, this would be it. There is an exquisite combination of fruit and chalkiness, of generosity and stone that is immediately evident on the nose. The palate has all the poise of 2008, all of the freshness and sense of eternity. Air allows notions of salted, roasted cashew to appear while the finish speaks of precision, linearity and depth. A class act.”

“Very mouth-filling and more lifted and lacy than the 2011 Amour de Deutz. A hedonistic aperitif? I can just imagine sinking into a red velvet seat in Paris with a glass of this. A very light touch on the ageing button… Drink 2021 – 2027

“This is incredibly long and beautiful. It’s full-bodied, but comes across with so much finesse and complexity. It goes on for minutes. Compressed with very fine phenolics. One for the cellar.”

“A high proportion of Pinot Noir gives this Deutz prestige cuvée richness as well as a strong green fruit character. Citrus, green apples and intense acidity underpin this finely understated wine. ”
