One of only a handful of Prestige Cuvee Blanc de Blancs is Amour de Deutz Blanc de Blancs, not on everyone’s radar, just yet, Champagne Deutz at the heart of Pinot Noir country in Ay, bring this delicate blend of BdB from 96% Côte des Blancs, bringing that chalky mineral fruit with a touch of tropical from Villers-Marmery.

In magnum it is extraordinary and today I was lucky to be hosting a Champagne Deutz Tasting & Supper.

In 2022, Marc Hoellinger became CEO, ushering Deutz into a new era defined by a commitment to sustainable viticulture. The Maison owns 42 hectares of vineyards and sources additional grapes from growers across 300 hectares, all located within a 30-minute drive of the winery. Uniquely, Deutz produces three prestige cuvées: William Deutz, Amour de Deutz Blanc de Blancs, and Amour de Deutz Rosé. The Blanc de Blancs cuvées are among Champagne’s most refined, renowned for their precision, delicacy, and exceptional finesse. By 2023, the estate had transitioned to 100% organic farming, with certification targeted for 2026.

“Deutz excels in blanc de blancs, and Amour de Deutz epitomises the house’s Chardonnay elegance. Here, Côte des Blancs grand cru Chardonnay is complemented by a small share of Montagne de Reims fruit from Villers-Marmery. Youthful, pale green in colour. The fruit purity and delicacy are impeccable from the first nose onwards: lime zest, floral fragrance, green apple and even some green fruit such as gooseberry and pear. All is crowned by the prettiest whiff of super-stylish toastiness. The palate is suitably lightweight, continuing on the path of ultimate finesse, purity and delicacy. Silky smooth and caressing the palate, this is long and juicy, finishing on a precise, dry note. There is much more to come here, but the wine is already perfectly delightful. Dosage 7g/l”
