Louis Roederer Collection 243 NV is the latest release in the new collection which replaced Brut Premier. The idea behind the new Collection was to address the impact in champagne of global warming, in Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon words “fighting for freshness“. The Collection number represents the number of times Louis Roederer have made a non vintage since the inception of the house in 1776.

“Juicy Mirabelle plum and salty citrus pith have immediate impact on the nose. The palate is equally immediate and generous. Fine, lively mousse rises with esprit and highlights the appetising phenolic structure that is reminiscent of grapefruit pith that is as mouthwatering as the bright line of acidity that pervades the wine. A touch riper than its predecessor 242, but with wonderful dimensions. Most seductive.”

“Collection 243 is a pillowy, enveloping Champagne evocative of crisp stone fruits, honeycomb, white flowers and buttery pastry. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and generous, with an ample core of fruit, bright acids and a saline finish.” – Tasted by William Kelley
