This 1970 is the seventh consecutive Limited Edition release of Taylor's as a 50th year anniversary of the wine. Taylor's hold one of the most extensive reserves of very old cask-aged port of any producer. These reserves include a unique collection of rare Single Harvest Ports. These ports are produced from a single year and age to full maturity in seasoned oak casks, displaying the vintage on the label. Single Harvest Ports are ready for immediate drinking and do not need to be decanted.

Tasting Note: Pale mahogany core surrounded by a broad pale gold rim with subtle olive highlights. Layer after layer of multi-dimensional aroma. Notes of sawn oak wood and cigar box with cedar with citrus notes. On the mid-palate, warmer notes of marzipan, walnut and coffee. Spicy hints of black pepper and cardamom opens up to butterscotch and a lively acidity. A wonderfully elegant and matured wine delivery rich flavours. /span>

Taylor's are one of the oldest Port producers, founded over three centuries ago in 1692. A family-owned independent producer, they became famous for their Late Bottled Vintage Port, produced on family properties in the famous estate of Quinta de Vargellas and the ancient vineyards of Terra Feita and Junco. These three iconic properties, each occupying a distinct geographic location and with their own unique character, are the cornerstone of the company’s success and the main source of its unique and inimitable house style. “In addition, Taylor Fladgate has recently released a 1970 Single Harvest Port, the seventh in a series of limited-edition 50-year-old colheitas, aged in the Taylor Fladgate cellars at Vila Nova de Gaia, that comes suitably attired in a frosted glass bottle and beech wood box. Released from the end of May this year, it does not come cheap, at £220 per bottle. Maybe a little deeper in color than expected, deep mahogany with very slight green tints on the rim, it has a striking bouquet of dried quince, camphor, a touch of furniture polish and grilled walnuts, and later just a touch of espresso. The palate is medium-bodied with a spicy opening: Chinese five-spice, cloves, satsuma and orange zest, then touches of California raisins and Medjool dates. Smooth and very sensual, this is a tempting and moreish Port with hedonistic flair. 2020 - 2050”
