This 1975 is the eight consecutive Limited Edition release of Taylor's as a 50th year anniversary of the wine. Taylor's hold one of the most extensive reserves of very old cask-aged port of any producer. These reserves include a unique collection of rare Single Harvest Ports. These ports are produced from a single year and age to full maturity in seasoned oak casks, displaying the vintage on the label. Single Harvest Ports are ready for immediate drinking and do not need to be decanted.

Matured in Taylor’s historic lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia and bottled in Taylor’s bespoke frosted glass and presented in an elegant wooden case, it is a true collector’s item. With limited availability, it ensures exclusivity among connoisseurs and fine wine enthusiasts.

A Year of Historic Change in Portugal
1975 marked a turning point, with the country undergoing profound political and social transformation following the Carnation Revolution. Globally, 1975 saw the end of the Vietnam War and the signing of the Helsinki Accords, easing Cold War tensions. In the UK, Queen Elizabeth II’s Christmas Broadcast was recorded outdoors for the first time, and the Royal Variety Performance was attended by The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. 1975 saw the release of Bohemian Rhapsody, redefining modern music, and Jaws, which revolutionised the thriller genre. It also marked the debut of Saturday Night Live, shaping contemporary comedy. In the corporate world, Microsoft was founded, paving the way for a new technological era.

Tasting Note: Rich chestnut in colour, with a broad amber rim. An elegant, floral, beautifully perfumed nose with an opulent core of wild honey, treacle, tea leaf and a delicate red cherry compote, delivers wonderful freshness. Cedary cigar box aromas, notes of wild rosemary, thyme and a kiss of fresh mint add a discreet level of complexity. The palate is luscious and lifted by a fresh acidity with flavours of blood orange marmalade, dried figs, apricots and rum babá. The finish is bright, lean, fresh and harmonious. A superb Single Harvest Tawny Port.

Bottled: 2025

Presented in a magnificent branded wooden box, Taylor's Single Harvest Port 1975 is the perfect 51st birthday present for people born in 1975.
Taylor's are one of the oldest Port producers, founded over three centuries ago in 1692. A family-owned independent producer, they became famous for their Late Bottled Vintage Port, produced on family properties in the famous estate of Quinta de Vargellas and the ancient vineyards of Terra Feita and Junco. These three iconic properties, each occupying a distinct geographic location and with their own unique character, are the cornerstone of the company’s success and the main source of its unique and inimitable house style. Taylor’s Vintage Ports are noted for their elegance and poise as well as for their restrained power and longevity.

Expert Reviews

91/100
Neal Martin
“The 1975 Taylor's Vintage Port is understated on the nose compared to the 1970 and 1977, with scents of degraded red fruit, ash, fig and clove, beautifully defined but discreet. The palate is medium bodied with a slightly candied entry, offering blood orange and red fruit, allspice and clove, with just a dab of gingerbread on the back palate. Very cohesive on the finish, this is not a powerful Vintage Port—that is a strength, not a weakness. Lovely.”
