The House of Louis Jadot has been producing exceptional Burgundy wines since its founding in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot. For the past 150 years Louis Jadot has continued as one of the great names of Burgundy and has gained international reputation for its superb red and white Burgundy wines. Louis Jadot is not only one of the largest producers of estate Burgundies of the Cote d'Or, it is one of the most celebrated exporters of premium Burgundies, owning close to 140 acres of vineyards from 24 of the most prestigious sites in Burgundy.

Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet are at the centre of the four communes comprising that form the part of the Côte de Beaune know as the Côte des Blancs (Meursault, Blagny, Chassagne and Puligny), so named for the quality and predominance of its white wines. Bâtard Montrachet is situated where the communes of Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet onverage meet. It borders the Bienvenues Batard Montrachet vineyard and lies just under the Montrachet vineyard. It benefits from east exposure, planted on a chalky soil. It is the largest of the Puligny's five Grand Crus. It is the largest of the five crus, its 11.7 hectares are divided between Puligny with 6 hectares, and Chassagne with 5.7 hectares.

Weather: 2010 was a very fine vintage in Burgundy despite some challenging weather conditions. 2010 is a smaller production, down some 25% on normal levels. The weather began with a cold and wet winter and temperatures hitting -21C with some of the primary buds were burnt off. Around 650,000 cases of wine were lost overnight. Moving to the spring months and flowering season the weather was cool. In September, the savior month, the dry warm days helped produce a classic burgundy vintage. The bright weather continued until the normal harvest that began on 21st September.

Expert Reviews
17.5+/20
Jancis Robinson MW
“In 2010, eight barrels in juice. All on the Puligny side. Rich, marzipan aromas – very much blowing out its chest and then beating it. Quite an exhibitionist! But why not? Lots of bombast and pleasure here. Certainly a successful Bâtard. Maybe not transports of delight or finesse but very solid effort.”

Antonio Galloni
“Jadot’s 2010 Batard-Montrachet, from the Puligny side, boasts stunning minerality. Intense notes of crushed rocks and slate caress the palate. The Batard is all nuance and class. There is a level of pure delineation and crystalline definition here that is simply striking. Today the aromas and flavors are quite bright, but the wine should fill out nicely and take on richer tones as it ages. Over the time I followed it, the Batard opened up beautifully.”

Stephen Tanzer
“Bright, pale green-yellow. High-pitched aromas of lemon oil, white pepper, wild herbs and crushed rock. Intensely flavored and suave, with a silky texture and a light touch to its lemon, stone and wild herb flavors. Wonderfully fine-grained Batard from the Puligny side of the cru.”
