The House of Louis Jadot has been producing exceptional Burgundy wines since its founding in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot. For the past 150 years Louis Jadot has continued as one of the great names of Burgundy and has gained international reputation for its superb red and white Burgundy wines. Louis Jadot is not only one of the largest producers of estate Burgundies of the Cote d'Or, it is one of the most celebrated exporters of premium Burgundies, owning close to 140 acres of vineyards from 24 of the most prestigious sites in Burgundy.
Location: Situated in the south of the Côte de Beaune, Chassagne Montrachet is one of the 5 villages of the prestigious Côte de Blancs. Facing east and south-east, white Premier Cru soils are mainly made of brown clay and limestone. Chassagne Montrachet produces 70 hectares of premiers crus.
Vineyard: At an altitude varying from 250 to 350 m, it benefits from exposures ranging from East to South and Southwest. The Cailleret vineyards lies at the northern end of the commune, bordering Les Champs Gains
Vinification & Maturation: Grapes are harvested by hand and put in small cases in order not to damage the fruits. Grapes are pressed softly, they ferment in oak barrels produced by the CADUS cooperage. 1/3 are new barrels. Aging usually lasts 15 months on fine lies before bottling.
Weather in 2013: An exceptionally difficult year: a long winter, cold and wet spring, disease pressure and a damaging July hailstorm led to very low yields and a late harvest. Careful vineyard work and selection were essential, but despite the challenges, the wines show striking elegance.

Tasting Note: Bright lemon-yellow. Subdued aromas and flavors of crushed stone, menthol, lemon-lime and pear, plus a whiff of metallic minerality. Penetrating and subtle, conveying a layered texture and lovely inner-mouth perfume and lift. Shows the richness of this stony high-altitude site, which has very little topsoil.
