Location: Morey Saint Denis is one of the smallest commune in the Côte de Nuits, including 4 Grands Crus: Clos Saint Denis,
Clos de la Roche, Clos des Lambrays, Clos de Tart.
Vineyard: The Clos de la Roche vineyard is situated on the Morey Saint Denis commune (Northern part) and very closeto the border of the Grands Crus vineyards of Gevrey Chambertin. It is the biggest of the 4 Grands Crus (17 ha) and it is facing East.
Vinification: The grapes bear small little dark red berries. The bunches are destemmed; they macerate in open vats during 4 weeks helping the subtle terroir to reveal itself. After devatting, the wines are aged in oak barrels during 18 months.
Weather: 2015 began with a cool, wet winter, causing slightly late budbreak, but a warm, dry spring and very hot June rapidly sped up vine growth. After some mid-summer heat and drought stress, late July and August rain helped ripening. Harvest was early and quick, with average white yields, low red yields, and grapes showing excellent balance—especially unusually high acidity in whites—making 2015 an outstanding vintage.
Technical Information:

Clos de la Roche, Morey Saint Denis

Tasting Note: The 2015 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has a voluminous and extravagant bouquet with blooms of red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin. This is a masculine, assertive Clos de la Roche, quite saline in the mouth with a feisty, spicy finish. This is a fine grand cru from Louis Jadot. - Tasted by Neal Martin
