The next generation, under the guidance of Louis Auguste Jadot, developed new export markets, particularly those in England and the US, with the help of Rudy Kopf, the founder of the Kobrand Corporation. In 1954, André Gagey joined the company as Louis Auguste Jadot's deputy. On the latter's premature death in 1962, André Gagey succeeded him as Maison Jadot's director. And, in 1984, André Gagey's son, Pierre-Henry, joined the company. In 1985, in order to ensure the company's future, Madame Jadot decided to sell the company to the family of Rudy Kopf, Jadot's US importer. Pierre-Henry Gagey became president of Maison Louis Jadot in 1992.
Cellar Master: Jacques Lardière
Winery Location: Beaune | Burgundy
Annual Production (bottles): Undisclosed
Weather: 2010 was a very fine vintage in Burgundy despite some challenging weather conditions. 2010 is a smaller production, down some 25% on normal levels. The weather began with a cold and wet winter and temperatures hitting -21C with some of the primary buds were burnt off. Around 650,000 cases of wine were lost overnight. Moving to the spring months and flowering season the weather was cool. In September, the savior month, the dry warm days helped produce a classic burgundy vintage. The bright weather continued until the normal harvest that began on 21st September.
Vineyards: Clos St Denis
Grape Varities: 100% Pinor Noir
Drink: Now to 2025
Tasting Note: Slightly muted aromatics. A powerful style with age has improved, splendid middle palate concentration of sweet ripe, plump red fruit. The texture has a silky elegance to it that combines beautifully with the well judge oak and sturdy grip. Very old vines here. Will age well.

Louis Jadot History
Maison Louis Jadot is a winery located in Burgundy. Founded by Louis Henry Denis Jadot in 1859, the first vineyard bought by the family was the Beaune vineyard, Clos des Ursules, in 1826. After the death of the last male member of the family, long-time manager André Gagey took over the business which was subsequently purchased by the Koch family. Today, the company is run by Pierre-Henri Gagey, assisted by head winemaker Jacques Lardère, who has been responsible for the company’s wines since 1970.
Louis Jadot operates and manages over 60 hectares of their own vineyards, as well as procuring grapes from other growers in the region – controlling a total of 270 hectares in Burgundy. In 1996, Louis Jadot partnered with Tonnellerie Vicard and created its own cooperage called Cadus, which produces French oak barrels crafted in the Burgundian tradition.
