Description & Technical Information

In 2013, Résonance Winery was created by Jacques Lardière a well-known winemaker from Burgundy in France. Lardière enjoyed Pinot Noir and fell in love with Willamette Valley's climate and soil which were suitable for Pinot Noir. It belonged to Maison Louis Jadot, one of the famous wineries in Burgundy; however, in 2016, the owners of Domaine Drouhin Oregon bought it. The ownership might have changed, but the winery remains genuine towards environmental sustainability and production of premium Pinot Noir.

The vineyards belong to Résonance Winery and are situated in the Yamhill-Carlton American Viticultural Area (AVA) and the Dundee Hills AVA of the Willamette Valley. They are suitable for growing Pinot Noir grapes. The winery commits itself to the use of sustainable agricultural practices and produce quality grapes. Résonance Winery's Pinot Noir has been distinguished as a high-end product due to its refinement, rich flavors of black current, and forest floor notes. Every vintage is specifically designed to highlight the distinctiveness of the Willamette Valley soil type.

Weather: A warm spring gave great weather conditions for bloom in early June leading to a sunny and cool summer, perfect for classic Oregon Pinot noir. After a warm, dry August, significant precipitation in September meant juggling between rainfalls, with harvest between September 19th and October 2nd. Meticulous sorting and care in the cellar allowed us to capture all of the greatness of the growing season, revealing elegant structure and alluring aromas in the wine. A surprise to many given the rain, 2019 is turning out to be one of the best vintages in recent memory.

“This really REALLY needs air. I realise many of my tasting notes indicate when decanting is necessary but I recommend pouring a bit into a glass, sticking the cork back in this and shaking it. I originally had this sitting at a 15.5 before it opened. It's incredibly dry, no sweet fruit at all, lots of extract. Herbal, lightly bitter bark quality, purple violets, dense and extracted, considering the vintage.”
