Fine wine will only retain its value if the wine is allowed to mature whilst the risks of any faults developing is minimised - optimum storage conditions are therefore imperative. The most important factor to consider when storing wine is a constant temperature – ideally between 10-15°C, in the dark, free from vibration and not too much humidity so labels don't go mouldy.
A bonded warehouse enables goods to be stored free from UK duty and VAT, until they are ready for onward delivery. This method of storage is known as 'In Bond'. All of our wines, including wines held on behalf of customers, are stored at Vinothèque, a London City Bond warehouse based in Burton-on-Trent.
Vinothèque is a 19th century Grade II listed building, which could have been a purpose-built cellar. Metre thick solid brick walls provide reliable insulation, minimising alterations in external heat and light alongside the most technologically advanced climate control equipment. The latest camera technology permits online digital photography to be used to thoroughly check all items necessary for condition reports.
The ground floor is dedicated to merchants moving stock and deliveries, whilst the upper floors house customer's private wine reserves, where they can be laid down securely and largely undisturbed for many years. Cases are clearly labeled with an individual lot number, specific to its owner, and the well organised computer system makes each case instantly locatable. Vinothèque's unrivalled reputation permits inclusion of the extra benefit of 'All Risks' insurance of your stock within our charges.
We can only accept orders for whole unmixed cases to be stored. At present we charge £11.00 per 9 litre case per annum inclusive of taxes and full replacement value insurance. When ordering online, select 'Cellar with TFB' as the delivery option.
Cellarage charges are raised quarterly, based on how many days each case has been cellared.
Your fine wines warrant a delivery service you can have confidence in. London City Bond specialise in transporting wine throughout the UK and have a proven track record in both delivery and collection. With depots throughout the country, your wine can be delivered to your door on a day to suit you.
