A highly limited Dom Pérignon release, bringing together two exceptional vintages through a striking collaboration with Damien Hirst. The Vintage 2018 and Rose 2010. This champagne is available only for delivery in the UK.

Dom Pérignon Rosé is only available as a vintage champagne and is only produced in exceptional years. Each vintage is a creation, singular and unique, that expresses both the character of the year, and is a tribute to Pinot Noir. To work with Pinot Noir continually requires excellence and humility and Dom Pérignon Rosé is the perfect balance of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Although it takes over ten years to reach the light of day, the colour of Dom Pérignon Rosé dares to express all the tension between youth and maturity, between exhibition and restraint.

Weather: The 2010 harvest was marked by a very cold winter with heavy frost patches. Weather improved in the spring and early summer months with cool and consistent temperatures. During August and September storms and humid conditions complicated the ripening process and much of the Pinot Noir being thin skinned largely succumbed to rot. Dom Perignon's vineyards in the Grand Cru village of Verzenay produced some outstanding Pinot Noir, but there weren't many examples of great PN from 2010. By contrast Chardonnay was super high quality, one of the best Chardonnay years within the last ten years.

The Collaboration: Damien Hirst is one of the most internationally recognized artists of his generation, celebrated for a bold conceptual language that explores beauty, mortality, and value with unmistakable visual force. His work brings a powerful contemporary edge to this release, creating a meeting point between Dom Pérignon’s creative ambition and a globally resonant artistic vision.

Kaleidoscope Shield: Inspired by one of the artist's most iconic works, the new motif reinterprets the famous Dom Pérignon shield, creating the very essence of this limited edition.

Technical Information:
Vineyards: 100% Grand & Premier Cru
Grape Varieties: 56% Pinot Noir & 44% Chardonnay | inc. 11% Red Wine
Lees Ageing: 13 years
Disgorged: March 2024
Dosage: 5 g/l
Drink: Now for 15+ years

Tasting Note: Stunning. So rich and complex on the nose! With almonds, burgundy flavours and strong Pinot Noir character on the nose. Really exciting! No shortage of structure. It seems so rich that it kids you there is some sweetness but the dosage was less than 5 g/l. Food wine. Should be great with tonight's langoustines! Long and savoury on the end. If grand cru rosé burgundy existed, this is what it would taste like. - Tasted by Jancis Robinson
Uniquely only available as a vintage champagne produced in exceptional years from just two grape varieties, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Dom Pérignon is an iconic wine with an unrivalled heritage. Often considered one of the founding fathers of Champagne itself, the Benedictine Monk Dom Pierre Pérignon spent forty-seven years working between 1668 and 1715 in the historic Abbey of Hautvillers pursuing his ambition to create the "best wine in the world".

Each vintage is a creation, singular and unique, that expresses both the character of the year, and the character of Dom Pérignon. After at least eight years of lees ageing in the cellars, the wine enters its first phase of interest, Plenitude 1, showing quite youthful fruit and broad texture from the lees contact. The signature Dom Pérignon aromatic is that "hint smoky" character a result of the reductive winemaking where they go to extreme lengths to keep each step of the winemaking process free of oxygen. With every sip of Dom Perignon you always have that purity of fruit character, depending on the vintage you normally see the Pinot Noir fruit dominate, which are those red fruits like raspberry, peach and dark cherry. The Chardonnay adds a supporting layer of chalky texture and delicious fruit in the yellow spectrum like plum, apple and tropical notes of pineapple.

Based on Grand Cru villages plus one premier cru villages of Hautvillers, a wine of tension, power and long-ageing endurance and has been the vision of talented Chef de Cave, Vincent Chaperon, for over two and a half decades.
Chef de Cave History at Champagne Dom Perignon:

Vincent Chaperon 2019 to current | Joined Moët & Chandon in 1999 then in 2005 he joined Dom Pérignon as head of red winemaking for Dom Pérignon Rosé. The 2009 Dom Pérignon Rosé saw a reduction in the still Pinot Noir content to about 10%, down from previous levels that reached up to 28% in earlier vintages like 2004 and 2005. This adjustment aimed to create a Rosé with greater finesse and a more harmonious profile, aligning with Chaperon's vision for the wine. His meeting with Richard Geoffroy proved decisive, the beginning of a thirteen-year apprenticeship during which the two engaged in an ongoing dialogue with one another. The handover took place on January 1, 2019 when Vincent Chaperon became Chef de Cave of Dom Pérignon.

Richard Geoffroy 1990 - 2018 | Joined the Moët & Chandon winemaking team in 1985, working with Dominique Foulon, chef de cave across both Moët and Dom Pérignon Champagnes at the time. Geoffroy's talents were quickly recognized; in 1990, he was named chef de cave of Dom Pérignon, mentored by Foulon until Foulon's retirement in 2000. Geoffroy was known for his 15 vintages of Dom Pérignon.

Dominique Foulon 1975 - 1990 | Under Foulon's guidance, Dom Pérignon produced several acclaimed vintages, including the 1975, which has been recognized for its quality and longevity. Foulon was known for his adherence to traditional Champagne-making techniques and his focus on creating wines with balance and aging potential. His approach laid the groundwork for the innovations that Geoffroy and subsequent Chefs de Cave would introduce. He played a crucial role in mentoring Richard Geoffroy.

André Bavaret 1940s – 1950s | One of the earliest cellar masters linked to the refinement of Dom Pérignon’s early vintages.

If grand cru rosé burgundy existed, this is what it would taste like.

To be released commercially in 2026. Blend of 44% Chardonnay and 56% Pinot Noir in total (including 11% red wine). (In the mid 1990s it was 15–18% then in the mid 2000s, as a result of the focus Richard Geoffroy was putting on Dom P rosé, it reached 28% but has been reduced since then.) They invested in a new winery in 2006–2008 with very small vats and burgundy-style pigeage for the reds. They started a programme to re-select red wines for Dom P and the wine now comes from 30 or so hectares in Hautvillers, Aÿ and Bouzy. They've been busy identifying the best plots, best clones and best raw material so this 2010 is the result of long research.”

“Eleven percent of Pinot Noir red wine lends the cuvée its refined, gently peach-tinged hue, slightly paler than usual. The nose captivates with its understated elegance, offering a delicate interplay of spicy, woody nuances and expressive, crunchy red-cherry fruit. With air, notes of ripe pineapple emerge, bringing a subtle sweetness and charm. On the palate, the wine surprises with its poise and restraint. Light in touch, yet intricately structured, framed by super-fine tannins. While one might expect power from this solar harvest year challenged by late season rains, Dom Pérignon 2010 reveals instead a remarkably elegant expression, radiating instant, articulate complexity. Dosage:5g/l.”

“The 2010 Dom Pérignon Rosé is elegant, gracious and lifted. Cranberry, mint, white pepper and pink grapefruit open first. The 2010 is a total charmer, that much is obvious. It is also far more interesting and engaging than the Blanc in this vintage. Ethereal and delicate, with lovely understated depth, the 2010 has a ton to offer. Its long, sustained finish is exceptionally beautiful and inviting.”

“The pretty red fruits leap out the glass, a precocious rose demanding attention! Zingy bitter red cherry, dark plum and dried raspberry dominate, underneath you feel the CH dominance, with a core of velvety yellow fruit blending so well with the PN juicy red fruits. With time in glass you get a waft of something minty/eucalyptus like. The texture is of so very soft and velvety wrapping around the tongue and salinity gives it the most beautiful elegant light ending. Going back I saw a twist of spice and more darker cherry fruits coming forward. This is stunning, with a zippy fresh finish.

The red wine for the DP Rose is sourced from just 15 hectares of specifically trained vines in Ay, Bouzy and Hautvillers, three of the warmer south facing villages, restricted to small yields and where maturity is pushed to the edge!”

“Born from rigorous selection in a botrytis-pressured year, the 2010 Dom Pérignon Rosé is composed of 44% Chardonnay—sourced predominantly from Chouilly, Cramant and Avize—and 56% Pinot Noir, with the latter largely drawn from Verzenay, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and Hautvillers. Eleven percent of the Pinot Noir was vinified as red wine, lending the wine its color, aromatic lift and textural nuance. Disgorged in March 2024 with a dosage of five grams per liter, it unfurls from the glass with aromas of bitter orange, wild raspberry and fresh strawberry, mingled with nuances of rooibos, Timut pepper and charred, buttered toast. On the palate, the wine is medium- to full-bodied, muscular and vinous, built around a rich yet vibrant core of fruit, complemented by structuring phenolics that impart its bitter qualities. Ample and textural, this is a commendable effort in a challenging Champagne vintage.”
