Founded in 1812, Champagne Laurent-Perrier remained a modest producer until Bernard de Nonancourt transformed it into one of the world's most celebrated Champagne Houses. A towering figure in 20th-century Champagne, he became CEO in 1948 after a three-year apprenticeship at Delamotte and Lanson. Over his remarkable 62-year tenure, production expanded from 80,000 to more than eight million bottles.
De Nonancourt was a visionary innovator: Laurent-Perrier was the first House to adopt stainless-steel vats, to create a zero-dosage champagne (Ultra Brut), and to pioneer a multi-vintage prestige cuvée (Grand Siècle). Following his passing in 2010, the House has remained family-led under his daughters, Alexandra Pereyre and Stéphanie Meneux de Nonancourt, who appointed Stéphane Dalyac as CEO in 2014. In 2019, Alexandra's eldest daughter, Lucie Pereyre de Nonancourt, joined the business to represent Grand Siècle around the world.
Today, Laurent-Perrier stands among Champagne's largest producers and is best known for its iconic Cuvée Rosé — the most recognised rosé champagne in the world. The House's distinctive style is defined by freshness, purity, and precision, with a light reductive twist and elegant character its wines age with exceptional grace.
The idea of Grand Siècle was born from a simple observation: that nature would never provide the perfect oenological year, but that thanks to the art of assemblage, Laurent-Perrier could in fact create it. Always a blend of three exceptional vintages that perfectly complement each other, Grand Siècle was launched in 1959 as a blend of 1952, 1953 and 1955. One year is chosen for structure, one for finesse and one for freshness, creating a unique combination of power and balance from wines of the very best vintages. The grape juice is fermented in 100% stainless-steel tanks as Laurent-Perrier very much believe in keeping the juice away from oxygen and protecting those floral aromatics. Iteration is blended from 11 Grands Crus. From June 2019, L-P introduced 'Iterations' to identify the blend of Grand Siécle. Since 1959, Grand Siècle has been revealed only 26 times in bottle format and 23 times in magnum.

Tasting Note: This has an intense nose with floral hints, lots of perfumed rose character and Turkish delight notes. Once it has had a few minutes in the glass, more flavours of brioche, grilled almonds and honey emerge. This Grand Siècle is refined, light and delicate and will live for decades.
Although originally founded in 1812, the name Champagne Laurent-Perrier was not conceived until 1964. After changing hands through several deaths and marriages, it was Bernard de Nonancourt who initiated Laurent-Perrier's rise to world fame. One of Champagne's most important figures in the 20th century, he officially took over in 1948 after a three-year apprenticeship at the Houses of Delamotte and Lanson. In his 62-year tenure, production grew from just 80,000 bottles annually to over eight million. Under de Nonancourt, Laurent-Perrier were the first House to use stainless-steel vats and the first House to create both a zero dosage champagne (Ultra Brut) and a non-vintage prestige cuvée (Grand Siècle).
Sadly, de Nonancourt passed away in 2010 and Laurent-Perrier is now managed by his two daughters, Alexandra and Stéphanie. Since 2020 Alexandra's daughter, Lucie Pereyre de Nonancourt has taken on the global role of Brand Ambassador for Grand Siècle. The production style is elegant, Chardonnay-driven, pure and fruit-forward and current Cellar Master Michel Fauconnet believes strictly in minimising oxidation. Indeed, Laurent-Perrier are one of the most reductive in style, serving to enhance their fruity expression and smoky complexity. Now one of the region's largest producers, they are perhaps best known for Cuvée Rosé, the most recognised rosé champagne on the planet.

Olivier Vigneron 2025 - Current | He hails from a farming family in the Marne region, but didn’t discover the world of winemaking until he was a student, when he took part in a grape harvest. He specialised the sector with a degree in biochemistry from the University of Reims and earned a National Diploma in Oenology. He then joined the Despagne vineyard in Bordeaux, where he gained experience in winemaking and team management. In 2000, he met Alain Terrier, then cellar master at Laurent-Perrier, who hired him as assistant at De Castellane. Four years later, in 2004, he joined Laurent-Perrier's newly appointed Cellar Master Michel Fauconnet.
Michel Fauconnet 2004 - retired in 2025 | Joined Laurent-Perrier in 1973, became the 3rd Cellar Master of the House, after respectively Edouard Leclerc in 1950 and Alain Terrier in 1983. Michel held all the production positions: cellar worker, supervisor, then Circle Manager. From 2004 he has been Cellar Master and Production Director. Never short of innovation, during his time he oversaw the introduction in 2018 of LP Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature NV and in 2024 LP Heritage Brut NV, a richly textured wine from all reserve wines. Michel Fauconnet also managed the winemaking of Champagne Delamotte, Champagne Salon and Champagne De Castellane. In 2014 he also joined the Laurent-Perrier Management Board. “This is the 17th release of this wine (1959 being the first). Blend of 3 vintages: 1999, 2002 and 2004. (Interestingly, 2000 was the only vintage declared that has never appeared in a Grand Siècle – not good enough?) 50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot Noir. Made from 11 of the 17 grands crus. Very slight tinge of gold. Cheesy nose – distinctly leesy/dairy. But gloriously unfettered and wild and spinning with flavour on the palate. Herbal. Wild honey. Chamomile, lemon zest, walnut and ginger. Coruscating edges. A geometric wine into which the bubbles seem to have been etched with a diamond tip. (TC) ”

“The NV Grand Siècle Grande Cuvée is a Grand Cru Brut based on 55% Chardonnay and 45% Pinot Noir from a total of eleven villages. The youngest release is a blend of the (declared) vintages 2002, 1999 and 1998, and has a yellow-golden color that opens beautifully with a clear, deep and complex bouquet. It is pure, ripe and very elegant, mixing pain-aux-raisin and honey flavors with pure chalk. Ample, highly elegant, beautifully matured and fruit-intense, with fine caramel, honey and torrone flavors, this is a well-structured Grand Siècle with great finesse and delicate freshness. Awesome.”

“Deep straw colour but still with amazing tension on the palate. This is explosive and minerally on the nose and definitely with less obvious acidity than the Grand Siècle No 25 in bottle at this point. In fact, it's almost warm and round! Definitely creamy-textured with strong lemon-syllabub (lemon-cream) notes. Very much part of the Grand Siècle family with just a lightly bitter note on the end. Maturing very nicely. Drink 2022–2034”

Today we celebrate the release of Laurent-Perrier Grand Siecle Iteration No 24 MV in Magnum & Brut Vintage 2007 Magnum as we sit down with Grand Siecle Brand Ambassador David Hesketh MW and Global Director Edouard Cossy.
The Grand Siecle concept is a blend of three great vintages, each bringing certain characteristics from different base years. Only 26 iterations have been produced in 65 years in Laurent Perrier's quest to find 'The perfect vintage champagne'.
A year of change for Laurent-Perrier sees the house welcome a new champagne, Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature NV; a redefined prestige cuvée concept, Grand Siècle Iterations; and finally, a new chef de cave, Dominique Demarville. We caught up in June to find out more.
A year of big change for Laurent-Perrier sees the release of a brand new cuvée, Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature NV, and the introduction of Grand Siècle 'Iterations', which will from now onwards be numbered, allowing consumers to discern information about their specific bottle.
"Everything is good, my work now is to find which ones are very good." Laurent-Perrier had a successful harvest in 2018, a year which Chef de Cave Michel Fauconnet believes will most certainly produce a stunning vintage champagne and hopefully a strong Alexandra Rosé as well.
We recently compared a bottle and magnum of Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle NV and were surprised by how fresh and youthful the larger format was showing, despite being a blend of older vintages. Read the full tasting report here.
The 2017 vintage favoured Chardonnay-dominant Laurent-Perrier. We tasted some rich and generous vins clairs with Chef de Cave Michel Fauconnet and sampled previews of upcoming Vintage 2008 and future Grand Siècle NV.
We were recently offered the opportunity to taste some older vintages of Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle: 1) A blend of 1999, 1997 and 1996, and 2) A blend of 1997, 1996 and 1995. Sampled alongside the current release, the results were very interesting.
We met with Cellar Master Michel Fauconnet to visit Laurent-Perrier's renovated cellars and conduct a vertical tasting of Brut Vintage and Grand Siècle (all from magnum) alongside Jancis Robinson MW.
